New Jersey maintains status as top contributor to NEA PAC

Congratulations, delegates! As the NJEA delegation you put your voices together and helped us become the top contributor to the NEA’s Political Action Fund (PAC). Together, at the 2026 NEA RA, we raised over $141,118.00 to support elected officials who:

  • Support professional autonomy and curriculum that is inclusive of all our history
  • Uphold America’s values and commitment to liberty and justice for all
  • Ensure our schools are places where all students are protected and empowered
  • Support elected officials who support an economy for a strong middle class

We look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail as we support those candidates who support our profession.

A Day of Learning and Organizing for Power

NEA RA delegates attended Day of Learning and Organizing for Power sessions across two days, learning how to build power in their unions and advocate for students and educators. State voucher schemes. Mass deportations and detentions. A lack of support for special education students and their educators. The myriad of ways that some politicians are sabotaging public schools and educators goes on and on. This week, NEA RA delegates stopped talking about these issues and instead starting writing action plans, learning new skills, and gaining tools to take back to their communities. Learn more here.

60th anniversary of the NEA/ATA merger

This year NEA celebrates the 60th anniversary of the NEA-ATA merger. Black public-school educators in the American Teachers Association, and their white counterparts in the National Education Association, joined together to become one united voice for public education, educators, and students. The merger ensured that NEA’s commitment to equality and racial and social justice would remain central to the association’s role as advocates for educators’ and students’ rights. That work continues today through our NEA racial and social justice work. Watch this video to learn more.

First-time delegates to the 2026 NEA RA

This year, NJEA brought 483 delegates to the NEA RA and 102 of them were first-time delegates. We hope to have them join us again next year for the 2027 NEA RA in Indianapolis, Indiana.
