NEA Representative Assembly Rules of the Road
The NEA is democratically governed by a Representative Assembly, the world’s largest deliberative body. Representatives gather annually to discuss issues affecting public schools, students, and education professionals. This year, local and state NEA members elected nearly
7,000 voting delegates elected by state affiliates and locals to represent education professionals across the nation at the RA from July 3-7. To ensure respectful and constructive deliberations, the RA is governed by a set of policies and rules for the proposals representatives make and how they engage in dialogue and debate. Access a copy of the NEA standing rules here.

NJAEA president wins NEA Aspiring Educators Outstanding Local Leader Award

Congratulations to newly elected New Jersey Aspiring Educators Association President Abigail Rodriguez! She won the 2026 NEA Aspiring Educators Outstanding Local Leader Award. It was presented to her at the GramAE Awards Ceremony, following the NEA Aspiring Educators Conference that precedes the NEA RA. While Chapter President of the Montclair State University Aspiring Educators, Abigail revitalized a previously inactive chapter and transformed it into a thriving, visible, and deeply engaged organization. She actively encourages members to participate in advocacy initiatives, NEA and NJAEA conferences, leadership trainings, and statewide involvement, helping members envision themselves as future educators, advocates and union leaders. Congratulations, Abigail!
